SS23 CAPSULE 2: CHEZ MAMIE

For this second capsule, we offer you a journey of nostalgia…

A direct trip to your childhood memories, vacations with the grandparents, those moments of freedom and carelessness! This fresh and colorful collection reflects the atmosphere of our spring summer 2023, an ode to our past to create the future.

The grandparents’ house was one of the first places where we discovered the beauty of arts & crafts: patchworks, embroidery, crochet…so many charming and delicate things. And the smell of your favorite tarte while you were playing outside the front yard? Such a nice and sweet feeling. We’ve combined all these nostalgic emotions in a mix of warm and cold color palette: browns, coral pinks, pastel yellows, and light blues create playful and original looks with one-of-a-kind patterns.

Patchwork is a sewing technique consisting of assembling pieces of different fabrics together. It allows us to create unique textiles and return to the fundamentals of couture with unusual combinations! So let’s celebrate its big comeback on the catwalks this season.

Poplin, originally called «papeline» by the French or «poplin» by the English, was created in the south of France in Avignon. Its fine and tight weave make a high quality fabric highly appreciated by tailors for making cotton shirts and blouses. Take a look at our FRNCH popline!

This season, we invite you to immerse yourself in the sweet nostalgia of our childhood memories. Our Spring/Summer 2023 collection, Les Souvenirs d’Enfance, will take you on a journey through 4 capsule collections, each with its own unique theme. Full of bright colors and textured fabrics, this collection is a return to memories of our summer vacations, from visits to our grandparents and exploring the countryside to road trips to the beach and rainy days spent in a museum. CAPSULE #1
CABINET DE CURIOSITÉS

For our first launch, we bring you the Cabinet de Curiosités! You know those rainy vacation days when we couldn’t play outside? This was a great way to explore art and history indoors. This capsule plays with elements inspired by museum trips: from insects and plants in natural history museums to the abstract colors and shapes of modern art.

With designs including chic knits, timeless jumpsuits and matching ensembles, as well as colorful and airy dresses, you’re sure to have the perfect look for those windy days when you can’t stay outside but are still looking for fun.

It’s time for butterfly madness! The butterfly is a symbol of rebirth after stormy days. Our FRNCH butterflies are waiting for you to fly away and travel!

THE SEASON'S ESSENTIALS

At FRNCH, the season is creative and colorful!
Hymn to the plastic arts, our collection is full of must-haves that will brighten up your wardrobe.

As the grey weather settles in, the days get shorter and we all want to stay warm under the blanket, the FRNCH team offers you a selection of pieces that will give you the vitamin boost you need to face this autumnal daily life!

As always, we start with jackets and coats, the key pieces of the season. First, there is the oversize blazer which will be THE jacket of the season. From pop green to burgundy through checks and imitation crocodile, the models are multiplying and seduce us. We continue with the trench coat, the star piece of the mid-season, overwhelmed with style. FRNCH brings a touch of sophistication and revisits the trench coat in brown shades by offering a blue faux leather version. We love it worn with wide pants and boots.

In the dress department, there’s something heavy. It is the long bohemian dress that will, once again, unanimously. To accompany it, knee-high boots!

The sleeveless sweater is the must-have of the season. Speaking of knitwear, dare to be a little crazy with our knits, all as colorful as each other even if this winter, our favorite is the sleeveless sweater. We wear it on a blouse with puffed sleeves or even on a thin sweater.

As for pants, we adopt, of course, the flare pants with its high waist and wide leg that refines and structures the silhouette. We associate it with a blouse with psychedelic prints or an imitation crocodile leather shirt for a rock look of the seventies.

THE FABRICS

If the faux leather is still very present, it is indeed the velvet that will be everywhere. On winter pants, on suits and on jackets, we fall for the smooth or ribbed velvet to face the low temperatures of the season.

For fall-winter colors, we find red, pink, purple but also more pops tones that facilitate the transition between summer and fall and give a good look, as apple green, orange and electric blue. And for prints, stripes and florals remain unavoidable. On a fluid or workwear-inspired j umpsuit, a long skirt or a romantic shirt, dare the mix&match.

Team FRNCH’s favorite(s): the Sandrine jumpsuit fits the waist with elegance, while the Yiwen pants with their structured cut suits all body types. You’ve got it, we’re a fan of corduroy!

LITLLE CHAT WITH YEV TOPYER

1. Can you introduce yourself? Who are you? Where are you from? What do you do? What is your background?

Hi, my name is Yevgeniya, you know me as Yev on instagram.
I am Ukrainian and I lived in France for almost 11 years mainly for my studies. I started in Montpellier to study languages and then went on to a Master’s degree in international project negotiation. Then, I moved to Nice to join my best friend and took the opportunity to finish my studies in translation, writing and subtitling for companies, in English, French, Russian and Portuguese.

I started working as a translator entrepreneur for 2 years. I loved it, but I really missed the artistic and visual side.

Since I was a little girl, I loved to draw. I used to draw a lot of dresses, pants, etc. I used to spend hours and hours drawing. I spent hours and hours imagining, creating and especially getting inspiration from my mother’s magazines, watching movies, imagining myself playing in them. I have a memory of myself at 14, imagining myself with a bob or very short hair and a very Parisian style. It seems I haven’t changed my mind since then sigh.

For me, at the time, the Parisian style was defined by Coco Chanel, not necessarily minimalist but, with a lot of tweed, white, black. Sometimes a few touches of color: French chic in a way. I think it was this memory that motivated me to come and live in France at the age of 18.

A few months ago, with my family, we moved to the Netherlands and settled in Amsterdam. Today, I do content creation full time. I am also an influencer and model. I am a mom of a 2 year old son and this role has changed a lot for me. My vision of fashion has evolved: it shouldn’t just be pretty, it should also be comfortable. You have to feel comfortable and be yourself all day long to work or when there is a party, a dinner. Being self-employed has helped me a lot.
Being an auto-entrepreneur is not easy all the time but it is still very motivating and challenging.

To sum up to answer the first question: I am Yev, I am 29 years old, I am married to an extraordinary man called Jorik who supports me a lot in everything I do, both in the creation of content and in my role as a mom. He is always there. I live between Amsterdam and Paris.

Ow, I forgot to tell you: we adopted a Beagle and we are a happy family of 4.

2. What are your daily sources of inspiration?

I would say everyday life, the people I meet in the streets of Paris, Amsterdam or on the French Riviera, which have very particular and very different atmospheres.

There are a lot of very stylish people of all generations and it’s very inspiring. There are also movies, books, music and especially movies from the New Wave era with chic, simple looks but always with a little vintage touch. A little sexy, of course laugh but always comfortable.

3. How would you describe your style?

I think I just kind of described my style in the previous answer, but I would say it’s chic, sexy, elegant, vintage, timeless and comfortable.

4. What is your favorite look? What is your must-have?

That’s a tough question because it depends on many factors like the season, the weather if I’m going out by myself or with girlfriends, with my husband or my kid or the dog laugh. But for the summer, I would say a linen set because I love wearing this material, it’s great. Either a little white or black outfit: flared pants, crop top, blouse with puffed sleeves or sleeveless in linen, sneakers and especially a basket. I love baskets, I have about ten of them. The essential of my wardrobe, which I wear without limit spring to early fall: the scarf. I wear it in my hair, around my neck, on my bags or as a belt. In fact, I wear it all year round sigh because I hate hats, except for the beret. When the temperatures are lower, I wear a lot of thick scarves in the Matroushka style.

The look that I always find out of time, sexy, elegant, comfortable, is a little black dress but not very mini, up to the knee. A thick black dress, long sleeves associated with espadrilles or high patent leather boots with a comfortable heel, a touch of lipstick for the glamorous side and it is done!

To accessorize, I add, of course a little basket and a trench coat. I would say this is my favorite silhouette all year round, no matter the season.

5. What is your favorite piece of clothing and why?

My favorite piece of clothing is a scarf. Like I said, it’s something I wear all year round and I find that it spices up the look and mixes perfectly with all silhouettes. You can really use it anywhere and for anything. You can wear it on your bag, jeans, dress and also in your hair.
For example, having short hair, I often wear it as a headband. Girls with long hair have even more options. There are so many creative possibilities with this accessory,

I love it!

The second thing I never part with is a large or small basket because it’s very chic, very feminine and very vintage but mostly New Wave. On top of that, it’s pretty useful on a daily basis. When I’m with my little boy, I always carry a basket because I have to bring a mountain of stuff and it’s still pretty stylish.

6. Why this collection with FRNCH?

There is a strong and very special bond with FRNCH. This brand has been with me since the beginning of my career as a content creator. The team has always trusted me and we have been collaborating for a very long time. For my first co-creation, I wanted to do it with a brand that understands me and above all that has always supported me. FRNCH seemed like an obvious choice for this project. FRNCH is above all a very representative and inclusive brand, a value that is close to my heart and that I am delighted to share with the brand.

FRNCH has made the choice to create clothes that give self-confidence! It’s a brand that doesn’t just follow trends but dares to propose daring silhouettes for all women, all moments of life, from the most everyday to the most special. The garment must not only be pretty or trendy, it must be comfortable to feel comfortable and confident with your body and your look. This is what is most important in fashion, and I find that sometimes we forget this because of the trends.

7. What were your inspirations for co-creating this collection?

This is a very interesting question and I want to answer it with lots of details but I will try to organize and summarize my ideas sigh. I love, love, love vintage style.

In my opinion, fashion is very cyclical. In fact, if you look at what’s trending today, it’s actually exactly what was trending in the 60’s, 70’s and 90’s. Personally, I’m more into the 60s-70s looks. I’m a huge fan of Françoise Hardy, she inspired me to create the little Françoise dress.

I’m very inspired by the New Wave era and I wanted to make a dedication to it in this collection, and it was very much felt when creating the moodboard. I was also very inspired by Jane Birkin, who for me embodies class par excellence. In co-creating, I wanted to bring a touch of color because we tend to darken our looks when fall arrives. I thought a pop print with a seventies vibe would bring a touch of sparkle to this 2022 fall season.

8. Which piece from the capsule makes you fall in love the most?

Without any surprise, the mesh dress. I love it, in addition to being ultra comfortable, it is very elegant, the slit on the side brings a sensual touch.
I completely fell in love with it when I saw it.

Moreover, it can be worn with heels for a very chic look or with little flat derbies for a more casual and working girl side.

9. FRNCH in three words for you, what is it? How would you define the FRNCH woman?

FRNCH for me is a brand that represents a woman, a woman with all morphologies and all origins. She can be very elegant or adopt a casual look. FRNCH pieces can be worn at work or at the beach, but also for a party or homewear.

Conclusion: the FRNCH woman is a woman of the world!

I am 28 years old and I am the founder of Collab for Love!

Can you introduce Collab for Love in a few words? How do it works?
Collab For Love is the solidarity label that connects committed companies, associations and responsible consumers.

Collab For Love was born during the first lockdown.

The idea is simple: to involve companies in a major mutual aid project in favor of the AP HP Foundation. We quickly decided to support other associations, the Pasteur Institute, #BlackLivesMatter, Impact Lebanon, the Women’s Foundation, Surfrider, Elementary Rules, Nightline to fight against harassment, ImagineforMargo, Abri de Femmes, Marion la Main Tendue … Collab For Love shines the spotlight on an association that echoes current events each month.

The goal is to help causes that are important to us, our partner brands donate 10% of their sales to a charity every month during the collections on their website.

What were your main motivations during the creation of Collab for Love?
We wanted to participate in the national effort to help caregivers during the first lockdown to fight against COVID-19, but also to help small brands to get known through a solidarity project.

What are the main actions you are leading with Collab for love?
Our main mission is to highlight brands that are committed to supporting associations in need through solidarity collections. We also want to highlight causes that are close to our hearts and events that are important in the news. Collab For Love is a

We have collaborated with a large majority of French brands, from big groups to very young Instagram brands, the objective is now to go to foreign brands!

What is your greatest achievement with Collab For Love?Collecting and donating more than 500 000 euros in 2 years with a team never bigger than 3 people 😉 We support big and well known organizations but also smaller ones where we can see our impact more concretely, for example with the association MaMaMa which creates first necessity kits for women and children, we knew that 3 500 euros would finance the return trip of a truck to the Ukrainian border, which allowed us to quickly measure our real impact 😉

My name is Julie, I am 27 years old and I am originally from Reunion Island. After studying Marketing and Communication in Bordeaux for 4 years, I went to Japan to specialize in Business Development.

What is your role at FRNCH?
I am the B2B Key Account Manager for Europe and Asia as well as the E-digital Account Manager.

How would you describe your style?
Varied. I like to change my style depending on the season. In the summer I prefer the simplicity of linen, in the winter and fall I prefer a more Chic&Rock style while in the spring I dare to be a little more feminine.

What is/are the piece(s) that best represent(s) you?
Boots and a blazer. I’m particularly fond of Dr. Marteens boots that I like to associate with feminine looks to bring a Rock&Roll touch.

What is your first fashion memory?
My mother was a seamstress and liked to make clothes for me. One day I designed a dress and she made it for me. So I developed a taste for fashion since that day.

Why are you working in fashion?
I love creation. Since I was a little girl I love to draw and imagine collections. It’s also a way to assert your identity through a unique and free style.

What is the best advice you could have received?
“Accept your emotions, trust your instincts, open your heart and cherish your body.”
